hitting his racing stride, and he is hitting it hard! He has been surprising
crowds around the country this season with his speed and spirit. Watch out .
Mark has been breathing down everyone's neck long enough, and he is ready to
pull out front! My parents weren't into racing or anything, but I am the youngest
of three boys, so I guess you could say that my older brothers paved the way
for me. I started 10 years ago, when I was about 10 years old. I have been racing
as a pro for 5 years now, since I was 16. AML: Give us a quick run down on your
career so far ... what have you been riding? Ryan: Well, I've been riding on
my own, with just small local sponsorship up until this year. This is my first
total package sponsor ... we get great support. From 1997-1999 I rode Suzukis,
mostly 250's. Now that I'm riding for KTM I am mixing it up a bit. I rode 125's
on the West and 250's on the East, and right now I plan to ride 250's outdoors
too. AML: Do you prefer 250's? Ryan: Oh yeah, they are heavier, but you can
rebound out of mistakes easier. Their speed helps you make up for a run that's
lacking precision. That's also one of the reasons I like the outdoor series.
I mean, I like indoors too, but those big outdoor tracks give you a lot of space
to work in.
