Customer Reviews for ARS LongReach Pruner Telescopic Heavy Duty Tilt Head Series
This is an excellent tool for picking hard to reach fruit. I used it to pick about 5 gallons worth of Loquat fruit with ease. The hold feature is key and is able to grab and hold very thin branches and stems.
not heavy duty
Mine broke pretty fast. The rod inside snapped at the threads where the trigger meets the rod. I bought replacement components and rebuilt it. Lasted about the same amount of time then snapped exactly the same way. Boo.
Just started pruning my small orchard and the ARS seems to be exactly what I need to get the job done. Cuts clean and is easy to manipulate around limbs.
ARS Telescopic Pruner
Perfect light duty pruner for climbing roses. A ladder is not required to prune roses up to second floor level.
Z165 Long Reach Pruner
One day of working with the pruners and I noticed that the cast aluminum(I'll call it the hold part of the blade) had broken leaving part of it still attached at the screw. I called the [sales person] who sold it to me. She was quick to respond with an e-mail. She was very helpful with a solution to my problem. Also a manager from the manufacture contacted me. He sent me a replacement part with a request to send back the broken part with the return slip enclosed. It was a no hassle exchange, the kind I like. The customer service both companies have given me has been exceptional. I was back working with little down time. I'm very satisfied with the product so far, plus it's great to have a company stand behind it's products "without giving the run around". I look forward to my next purchase from A.M.Leonard. Thanks
This is a great light-weight trimmer with fantastic reach. It works smoothly and cuts well- just keep it clean and don't let it gum-up and it's great!
This long reach pruner is the best we have ever purchased in our 20 years of operating. It is durable and makes detail pruning of vines that grow on the walls of our clients homes a breeze.
great while it lasts
the long-reach pruner is very handy and works quite well. My only reservation about it is that I've had to replace mine after 6 or 8 years because a spring mechanism, without which the mouth has no traction, could not be fixed.
Telescoping pole pruner
This is a high quality product, well made. It's exactly the product I needed to prune those hard to reach areas.
ARS Longreach Pruner
Nice, lightweight pruner. However, its not heavy duty and its applications are going to be limited. Very small branches.
I particulary love the long reach prunner for its ability to dead head and prune my climbing roses w/o the use of a ladder. I highly recommend this superior tool that acts like a bypass prunner in your hand.
Works great until it breaks!
I'm a landscaper and thought this tool was terrific until it broke. Disassembles easily, impossible to reassemble after attempting to repair. No replacement parts available. I have three broken ones laying around. Can't bare to throw them out since they were so expensive. ARS should take a page from Felco's book on replacement parts and ease of repair.
A.M. Leonard replies: Our product manager will examine and we'll post feedback here.
Excellent new tool
Just spent two days spring pruning with the ARS LongReach pruner. Completely satisfied; it cuts how and as I hoped. Keeps me off a ladder higher than my comfortable 6' one. Would recommend it to any friend looking for a high-pruning tool. Safe.
Ain't what it used to be.
I am a commercial orchard farmer and use ARS tools regularly. This one disappoints. The design of this long reach pruner leaves much to be desired. Mainly the ease in which they break and the difficulty (if not impossibility of repair). If ARS made a manual and the tools necessary for repair I wouldn't feel so negative about this pruner. Instead I have about 5 of them in the barn for "parts" after only one season. I realized for every two I break I can buy a new orchard ladder, so more orchard ladders and NON telescoping ARS pruners for me. I will be saving the telescoping for light duty jobs.
A.M. Leonard replies: Issues with the ARS telescopic pruners typically are related to cutting beyond the diameter that the pruner is designed to cut. However, there is a manual available online that shows details on how to replace the internal slide mechanism: http://www.growtech.com/GT_Toolshed.html
i work in landscaping and for years have gotten this product and other pruners from A.M. Leonard. Have not figured out how I did trimming without the pole pruners to reach limbs. It makes work easier. Better to work smart not harder!! JoAnn B.
The perfect pruning tool for a short gardener
This pruner saves me from dragging a ladder around, has stayed incredibly sharp for over a year, is compact enough to save space in the vehicle, is lightweight and does not stress my hands.
ARS LongReach Pruner Telescopic Heavy Duty Tilt Head Series
This pruner came as advertised. Light, flexible, and solid. I have the sniper (equally excellent) but felt this pruner would help me with some of the smaller limbs. My only wish is that it could manage larger limbs and I would use it all the time for pruning last years growth from my fruit trees. Wonderful... allows me to get up in the tree tops and I can take it most anywhere. I have had no trouble in maintenence. A final note; the person I purchased from on line was helpful and friendly, not often the case. I will be back.
old style rules
dislike this new style. falls apart much quicker. harder to repair. design was poor in several aspects. old style was easier to manager and more durable. We have just had a bad experience with this product. Bought product because old style was unavailable. My team would not reccomend these pruners. But may have to reorder due to limited amount of choices.
