Position: Marketing Operations Manager
Position Description
A.M. Leonard Inc., one of the largest national horticultural tool and supply companies serving the green industry for over 127 years, requires a Marketing Operations Manager to help drive online and offline sales for A.M. Leonard. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and works closely with the Marketing, Merchandising and Creative departments to strongly lead marketing catalog and collateral production that improves the profitability of A.M. Leonard.

Main responsibilities include: establish timeline and leading catalog production to meet deadlines, analyze catalog results and product presentation to influence catalog pagination, lead vendor source selection, and  coordinate resources of different disciplines to produce marketing collateral.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications preferred with 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Strong applied knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to solve complex problems, successfully manage multiple projects at once, and persist through significant obstacles for issue resolution.
  • Proven ability to guide team to consistently meet deadlines while remaining calm within a tight production schedule.
  • Project management experience with creative/marketing/pre-press/printing processes including proactive ability to consistently meet deadlines and milestones per a tight schedule.
  • Ability to succinctly promote product benefits and features, to consistently standardize product copy per branding/competitive advantages, and to understand product know-how on a high level to present primary benefits for the customer.
  • Hands-on analysis and experience conducive to catalog pagination.
  • Excellent oral communication to effectively verbalize over the phone or in person.
  • Excellent written skills for reporting, documentation, and product copy.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with key attention to detail to facilitate the release of 100% error-free artwork and copy including technical accuracy. This includes adaptability per the medium of emails, articles, product copy, or press releases.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to learn new concepts to improve marketing and professional skills that apply to this role.
  • Adaptability to quickly move from one task to another without losing focus, and being able to resume progress of previously started tasks seamlessly.
  • Eagerness to initiate new marketing ideas and identify potential marketing opportunities.
  • Extensive experience in gardening or landscaping industry highly appreciated.

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Lead and be ultimately responsible for timely execution of  catalog production including the scheduling, vendor selection, product selection, pricing/offers, and printing phases.
  • Lead and be ultimately responsible for executing square inch analysis and understanding offline catalog performance to develop catalog pagination for the A.M. Leonard brand. This work will incorporate matchbacks and online sales as possible.
  • Manage each brand’s web marketing coordinator who develops content for web, social media, and emails.
  • Coordinate with personnel from different disciplines to formulate an annual production plan while documenting/incorporating lessons learned to enable continuous improvement.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate with all external print-related vendors on topics including budgets, timelines, feasibilities, objectives, shipping methods.
  • Consistently update and inform creative/marketing/merchandising leads of all project-related tasks and their progress during the creative/marketing process.

Position: Web Developer
Position Description
A.M. Leonard Inc., one of the largest national horticultural tool and supply companies serving the green industry for over 127 years, is seeking an experienced web developer to define, code and implement front-end development for the strategic goal of increasing e-commerce sales. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and works closely with the Marketing, Creative and Information Technology departments  as well as third party vendors.

Main responsibilities include: coordination with SaaS vendor to understand how custom functionality fits with standard software, collaborating with Marketing to define project requirements and translating those requirements into efficient, error-free programming, and closely working with IT back-end database developers for smooth integration with ERP system.

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree in MIS or CIS or equivalent experience with 2 years minimum in developing and marketing e-commerce websites with experience in object-oriented programming.
  • Strong current knowledge and experience with HTML /CSS standards via industry-accepted best practices (understanding of HTML 5 a plus).
  • Experience with using ASP.net and its integration with SQL database/Microsoft Access.
  • Be familiar with creating and maintaining AJAX-driven applications; including XML familiarity for better implementation of AJAX.
  • Have strong working knowledge in JavaScript for enhancing website presentation.
  • Understand Photoshop and graphic design requirements to enable effective coordination with Creative Department.
  • Experience in FBML or similar for coding applications in social media.
  • Excellent oral communication whether over the phone or in person.
  • Ability to learn new web technologies quickly, and to use them to enhance web presentations while improving programming and professional skills.
  • Ability to persist through and overcome significant coding and hardware obstacles; is logical and methodical when troubleshooting problems.
  • Eagerness to initiate new marketing ideas and identify potential marketing opportunities.

 
Major Areas of Accountability

  • Use strong CSS knowledge to ensure overall browser compatibility.
  • Implement efficient ASP.net code with JavaScript/AJAX as needed to enhance website useability on a stable, quick-loading platform.
  • Support IT initiatives as needed for upgrading server hardware/software as needed, and ensuring absolute stability of all web-related components.
  • Work to ensure absolute security of all websites, including safeguarding online transactions, server security, and protection of intellectual property wherever possible.
  • As needed, work with web marketing coordinators to strengthen marketing emails.
  • As needed, perform validation unit and system testing of own code, and that of third-party SaaS developers.
