This water breaker is always my 'go to' head for watering plantings. As a professional at a botanical garden it has been my work horse to get things watered. It provides a large volume of water but with so many holes in the head it gently delivers water to delicate plants. We have discontinued use of other products because we like this so much. The one problem, which is why I only gave it a 4, is that the edge near the aluminum top is weak and cracks if dropped on a hard surface. We have started insulating this edge with foam.
I needed a new watering wand for my bonsai trees. The previous ones I bought from the "BIG BOX" stores were all made in China with falsely advertised lifetime warranties. These never lasted more than one season. Then I discovered A.M. Leonard products. What a difference! You could immediately discern the difference in quality. The Dramm Redhead Water Breaker provides a soft but prolific spray that makes delicate watering a breeze. My trees and I thank you. BUY AMERICAN!
This is great for water volume without the pressure. Seems to work best with a shutoff valve on the wand. Not heavy duty enough for high pressure irrigation systems, but for most applications is a valuable tool.
Living in Southern California, I have to water frequently. My biggest problem has always been getting a gentle fine stream on the plants so they don't get damaged or flattened. Also when just watering roots, a strong stream can wash away soil. The Dramm Readhead has 1,000 tiny holes so produces a soft, gentle flow of water. Also very good for watering seedlings. I own two Dramm Readheads, one for the front garden and one for the back.
Very good product that sprays evenly and lightly. I used it for newly sown seeds in trays of 40. Great product.
