GroundHog® mattock tools are drop forged from American made tool steel creating an extremely tough tool. Slip on eyes are effective at keeping a tight handle connection after years of use. The 18" handles are of hickory which is the best choice for striking tool use due to its high strength. Long vinyl grips are easy on the hands and long enough for two hands when needed. Great tool. Right length and weight for control. Used it to clean aroung trees in the yard. Removed unwanted grass without excessive soil disturbance. My husband bought and I love it.

I bought the groundhog because i am always in search of a better weeder.This is not it. Either the handle is too big or the end is too small.the fist time I used it I bent the forks, telling me it wasn't tempered right.

I have arthritis and I found this to be a well-balanced and very useful tool. The ax works well on kudzu roots, although it has to be sharpened frequently. I am ordering a cultivator as well. Well made, good grip on handle. Rapidly becoming my favorite hand tool.
