Very sharp, great balance, easy to keep Sharp, and knife has a good form.
I bought three of these knives for a workshop teaching grafting on apple stock. They came workable, but needed washing (some oil on blade) and I touched up the edge a little. The orange handle is helpful in preventing losing track of them in a field setting, but if lost, they are fairly inexpensive. I would recommend it for similar situations of teaching or having lots of knives in the field.
I used this knife to graft several hundred trees in March. It fit well in my tightly closed fist during bench grafting. The orange color kept it from getting lost in the field. Great for peeling bark and whittling too.
I have never grafted apple tree stock before. Upon looking at a number of options I chose the Leonard Folding Grafting Knife because it appeared capable of doing the job while not busting my wallet. I can say that the knife lived up to its expectations. I was able to make ten graftings in a couple hours time. The knife was sharp and accurate.
This knife had a slight bevel on what I expected to be the "flat" side. I honed that bevel off to make the blade completely flat on one side. It worked very well for the whip and tongue grafts I used it for.
