24in. brass probe, top display, sensor at tip measures moisture content. Uses AA batteries.
This meter allows for calibration. This is a benefit because all types of soils may read differently. The meter can be calibrated to the types of soil being used with to insure the readings are accurate.
Manufacturer supplies a 90-day warranty.
QUESTION: Does the unit ever need to be calibrated? ANSWER: Occasionally the unit needs to be calibrated; the user can do so with a small screwdriver, completely saturate the type of soil being tested and insert the meter. Then turn the adjustment screw until the meter reads 100 percent.
Review Summary (Based on 2 Reviews)
It works as advertised. It is a heavy duty product and is exactly what I needed to check for deep watering of trees and shrubs.
This moisture meter has saved me time and in the long run money on production in the field, helping me and my crews narrow down the ones that need it and the ones that don’t. There’s no second guessing its accuracy as long as you know what to look for. The only complaint is the battery durability. They should like most products today move to a 2-5 year lithium ion battery that will stand the test of time, then again some don’t even know there is a battery in the meter. The lens that indicates the moisture level in the soil is very delicate so stress that to your crews or invest in crazy glue.
