Great shovel very heavy steel spade I believe it is forged steel. I rely on this shovel to dig to terriers wouldn’t take anything else to the hunt.
I refuse to own any shovel that is not an Ames Pony. I have round and squares in both long and short D-handles. Unbeatable quality and value. I am currently in need of a new D-handle round shovel after using my current one for over ten years. It has proven to be of exceptional quality and durability.
I dig groundhogs with this shovel and my dogs are underground at the time, so it matters that it cuts well, takes a beating, and scoops dirt. No other shovel does the job as well
I bought this shovel because I needed a tough shovel with a D-grip handle for digging in dry clay. Unfortunately, it broke off the first time I used it. The wood had powder in the middle- poor quality wood.
