So far it is holding up to our use. The beveled edge is helpful to get under the weeds.
According to the A.M.Leonard product description, " The blade is designed to be pushed or pulled through the top layer of soil" but unlike the scuffle hoe, which has a trapezoid shaped blade and cuts on the push AND pull stroke, the Dutch instrument has to be pushed. If you want to pull it, you can turn it over and work it like a conventional hoe, except that the angle of the blade to the handle is about 135 degrees compared to the nearly 90 degree angle of a conventional hoe. And then there's the cost. The Dutch hoe is aprx 3x the price of the scuffle hoe. Both tools are difficult, but not impossible, to use in clay soil. When you consider the cost, I believe the scuffle hoe is superior, although the Dutch hoe is a more solid construction.
looked all over the internet for a hoe like this... Love this hoe! Easy to use and built well.
