this tool was the answer Barb J. from NY wrote August 01, 2017

I have a large patch of creeping thyme on a slope that is kinda dangerous with lawnmower (&messy) so I bought the Japanese blades cutter & this tool. This one let do the cutting without gloves because the handles are coated, so it was comfortable to use for an hour. Real quality that I am very happy with!!!

These are very easy to use and are comfortable in your hand. Seems to be very good quality.

high quality but ergonomically wrong appreciative of quality tools from VT wrote July 30, 2016

Had to return these grass shears. Once I got them in my hand I realized how hard it was to orient the shears for cutting grass. For normal hand movements, the handles should be oriented 90 degrees to the blades not in the same axis as the blades. The shears are very well made, but just awkward for long-term grass trimming with my hands. Having the handles in line with the blades is fine for pruning cutters where branches come at all angles and you can rotate your wrist and forearm to get at the item to cut, but grass always comes perpendicular to the ground so in my opinion this requires a different orientation of the blades/handles for easier hand use.
