Product was great, but it would not work for what I had intended to use it for. I wanted to use it to auger sand into a cavity through a tube, but the sand had to many stones that jammed up the gizmo I built. Not a problem with the auger. It is well built, and probably will work excellent for what it was designed for.

(1) Using better steel for the shaft sure wouldn't raise the price that much and it wouldn't cause people to ruin the bearings/gears in their drills. (2) Putting a flat edge at the top of the shaft so the auger doesn't spin in the chuck of your drill sure wouldn't raise the cost significantly, either. So, for what it's made out of, the price is just about right. However, I'd be willing to pay more for one that somebody put more effort into making.
