Fast and accurate results!

Hanna Instruments developed these high-quality, pre-measured reagents for use with their Nitrate Test Kit. This pack contains 200 additional reagents. Each bottle features a clearly marked expiration date and lot number for traceability.

The Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit measures irrigation water samples within a 0 to 50 milligrams per liter (parts per million) range and soil within a 0 to 60 mg/L (ppm) range. This test determines both water and soil as nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N). This test works by using cadmium to reduce nitrate ions in the sample into nitrite ions. This reaction creates an orange-colored complex; the greater the nitrate concentration, the deeper the orange color. Comparing the sample color to the included check disc provides an accurate, side-by-side visual analysis of nitrogen in the sample.

Plants absorb most nitrogen (N) as nitrate (NO3). They gain nitrogen through the mineralization process of organic matter and via fertilization. Crop production requires a large amount of nitrogen, making it necessary to administer it in moderate quantities throughout the growing season. As a major component of chlorophyll, nitrogen is a vital element for plant life. It allows the development of the vegetative activity of the plant. Nitrogen also helps lengthen trunks and sprouts as well as increasing the production of fruit and foliate. Too much nitrogen, however, weakens the plant's structure and resistance to diseases. With this test kit, you can ensure that your plants have the perfect amount of nitrogen required for maximum plant health and yields!

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the range of irrigation water nitrate tested by the Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit?
The Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit can measure irrigation water samples within a 0 to 50 milligrams per liter (parts per million) range as nitrate nitrogen (NO3 N).

2. What is the range of soil nitrate tested by the Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit?
The Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit can measure soil samples within a 0 to 60 mg/L (ppm) range as nitrate nitrogen (NO3 N).

3. How does the Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit work?
The Hanna Instruments Nitrate Test Kit works by using cadmium to reduce nitrate ions in the sample into nitrite ions, which creates an orange colored complex. The deeper the orange color, the greater the nitrate concentration. Comparing the sample color to the included check disc provides an accurate, side-by-side visual analysis of nitrogen in the sample.

4. What is the importance of nitrogen in gardening and landscaping?
Nitrogen is a vital element for plant life and plays a key role in the development of the vegetative activity of the plant, including the growth of trunks, sprouts, and fruit. Administering nitrogen in moderate quantities throughout a plant’s growing season is necessary to ensure healthy plant growth and maximum yields. However, too much nitrogen weakens plant structure and resistance to diseases.
