Scooping chipped wood? Get ready for a GAME CHANGER! wrote

Maybe like me, you got here through a YouTube video of a guy who tells you how to effectively scoop, haul and distribute compost from giant mounds into a truck then into his chicken coop. In the video, he sings the high praises of the A.M. Leonard 8-Tine poly scoop with D-Grip handle. Tired of using heavy shovels, I took the bait and purchased the scoop as I frequently receive up to 7 yards of ramial chipped wood delivered to me from an arborist who chips up downed trees. When I put those tines into the very first scoop of chips and lifted, I knew I had a massive game changer. I was as giddy as a child at Christmas, laughing like a lunatic as I quickly piled giant scoop after scoop into my wheelbarrow. It took 6-7 big scoops and I was overflowing. Not only massive scoops of wood chips were pouring into the wheelbarrow but the scoop itself is lightweight and the D-Grip handle gives great leverage for pulling the load up and out. Now, I only loaded fresh, wood chips and branches that ranged from small to medium in size. I didn’t load compost or mulch or stuffed animals or whatever else people reviewing are using the scoop for. There are a few people 1-staring the scoop because it didn’t meet their mulch/compost needs because of twisting tines, or weak and spreading tines or blah blah blah. And maybe that’s true, but for me and my chipped wood, this is the best investment I have made for my property in awhile. I save loads of time because I’m scooping double, if not triple, what a shovel will do. It’s easier on my back, lighter and all around more comfortable to use. Overall, it is the perfect device for my application.

Very Disappointed wrote

Tines are always twisting and locking over each other. One tine broke after less that 6 yards of mulch. 2 stars for trying, but I spend too much time untangling the tines, material leaks through the space where the broken tine was. Stay old school if you want it to last.

Not made for Mulch wrote

This is not good for moving mulch, will be great for the garden scarecrow.

Light weight and great for wood chip mulch wrote

I bought it after seeing it in use, unsolicited, on Edible Acres YouTube site. I’ve used to load then transfer about 7-8 yds of wood chips thus far. Seems hardy enough despite being plastic.
