Leonard Round-Point Closed-Back Shovels

Designed for the toughest of jobs!

We equip our Leonard Closed-Back Round-Point Shovels with tempered steel blades. We reinforce the blade by welding an additional steel ribbon to the back. These 14-gauge steel heads measure 9-1/4 inches wide and 12 inches long and have a black surface coating. An extended 11-inch socket provides a secure head-to-handle connection. Choose your desired handle type below.

Leonard Closed-Back Round-Point Shovels make any digging job easier. The closed-back design prevents soil buildup during use. Their black coating and flat surface make them extremely easy to clean.

We engineer these shovels for the toughest of jobs. The durable steel blades resist rust and corrosion. A notched handle end bends to conform to the curve of the handle. This bend supports the core through the neck of the shovel. Thru rivets maximize the strength of the head and handle connection. We back these tools with our lifetime warranty!

Round point composite handle shovel

Lee Miller from NY wrote (June 19, 2017):

Shovel is a wonderful hand tool. The only draw back is the handle. The handle began fading as soon as I removed it from the box. It is now almost a pink in color very disappointed......

Poor Quality

from wrote (September 25, 2012):

I bought this I wanted to upgrade my old wood handled shovels. The fiberglass handle is great, however the shovel head on this is very poor quality. Thin shovel head and poor constuction. Closed back welds broke and then split shovel head while digging out shrubs. Upgrade to the solid closed back shovel as this one is not worth the money. A.M. Leo made great on their Lifetime Guarantee, but this shovel is junk.

Great Shovel, Excellent Value

Ben W. from wrote (September 30, 2011):

Great shovel for the Landscaping Industry. When digging in compacted or heavy soil, it has enough mass to power through without being cumbersome. Sturdy with a good feel. My crews have not been able to destroy too many of these. Well worth the price f

Great Shovel Head, Weak Handle

from wrote (September 26, 2011):

Very satisfied with the business end of this shovel but unfortunately the crews seem to be breaking the handles too easily.

Great Shovel!

Paul K. from wrote (September 26, 2011):

We use round point shovels to dig holes to plant trees in hard, rocky soil. We have broken several, including one with an "unbreakable" handle! This shovel is holding up very well. And, since it is an A.M. Leonard, it is guaranteed if it should ever fail.
