Larger than expected but better than expected-great wood handle-very well made.
Seemingly strong & forged steel rake. Slender American made ash handle.
I've had this rake for about two weeks and have used it more than 5 times. I will update this review if my opinion changes with more experience, but thus far, this rake has been great. I prefer the stability of a well-constructed straight rake to a bow rake, and this one is very well-constructed, The ash handle is solid and well-weighted, much easier to balance than fiberglass handles.
If you are still using a bow rake, you owe it to yourself to try this straight rake. Strong enough, and with just the right amount of heft, that you can use it for chopping, both with the tines and with the edge of the head. You can also flip it over to use for leveling. Sturdy construction, well made.
I rate it 5 stars because the rake body/teeth are 1/4" thick steel -- VERY STRONG -- and the body is welded to the "cap" all the way around -- also VERY STRONG. I used this to rake a large pile of fist-sized rocks and when teeth caught on many roots or embedded rocks, the body never had any signs of bending or breaking. Should be, truly, a lifetime (of me) lasting product.
