QUESTION: What is Rockwell Hardness. ANSWER: Rockwell Hardness refers to Rockwell Hardness testing. This is an application of testing the hardness of materials such as metal and plastic. The testing will vary, but one example is when a diamond cone or ball is depressed at pressure into the material. The impression is measured and then given a hardness rating.

Over the past twenty years I have used my Okatsune to prune thousands of Christmas Trees. The steel is truly magical and still cuts better than most other brands new off the shelf. I never sharpen them. Best money I have ever spent. I am just on this site to buy a long handled shears to clip basal branches and undergrowth.

Razor sharp and they have never needed sharpening with professional use. My complaint is that the handles have worn out on all three pairs I have purchased. The metal band that secures the wood to the blade breaks and the handles also develop play where the screws secure the handle causing me to hit my fingernails together which is annoying and painful. For this price a better handle design should be developed. Bumpers would relieve stress on the handles. Five stars if not for the weak handles.

Absolutely fabulous shears. I am using them to prune my Boxwood Knot Garden - they are perfect to use for tight spaces - very sharp and effective.

This is a wonderful hedge shear and saves time cutting our yew hedges. We especially like the long handles and light weight of the Okatsumes. The blades keep their edge and stay sharp.
