Okatsune Hand Pruners, 0.75-inch Cutting Capacity, 8-inch Length
3 5 Wouldn't Buy Again Tom S Yes, the blades are hard and keep an edge but everything else about these pruners suffers in comparison to Felco models. The mechanism to lock/unlock the handles is barbarous and way too stiff. If I don't scrupulously clean the blades after every use they stick together badly, and I'm just using them on ordinary garden pruning, nothing especially resinous or sticky. They lack features and ease of use that I'd grown accustomed to at this price point.

5 5 The best! Female 55 years old - gardening for 30 years These were recommended to me by the landscaper. I have done much of the upkeep on our property (1.5 acres). I have used Corona and Felco, which were good, but these are the best. They keep a sharp edge all season no matter what different materials I have used them on. Definitely would recommend.

5 5 Sheer bliss! These pruners have such a nicely balanced feel in the hand. The cutting action requires very little pressure. They are a pleasure for a person with arthritic hands to use! Many thanks!!

2 5 Returned Dorothy S - Owner/care giver of +20 Rose Bushes and 25 Fruit This pruner is sturdy but built for a strong man's hand. I returned it and ordered a much more user friendly pruner that fits my hand and also does a wonderful job. Product # 1286 Pruner Bypass 8 1/2. I am very happy with the product and customer service.

5 5 Quality Pruners. Pleasure to use Northeast Gardener I bought these pruners because I lost my Felco #7 and just love the Okatsune hand shears which I have used for years. They are wonderfully sharp and the latch to close them works really well. I like the fact that they are white and red. Read somewhere that this is so they will be visible in the day and in the evening. The Japanese are known for their knives, swords etc and it's a pleasure to support them by buying a quality tool. I figure the Swiss don't need my business ;-)

5 5 Quality Hand Pruners John H, Owner, Seattle Tree Preservation, Inc. The Okatsune pruners are the best in the world!! I started using them in 1987 and have bought nothing else since then. Nothing else on the market even comes close to the quality of this tool.

5 5 Outstanding! Master Gardener I've had my first pair of these pruners for over 20 years (a gift from a beloved sensei) and panicked when I thought they were lost forever after misplacing them at a demonstration garden. I was so happy to find a replacement; they are perfect. They stay sharp, can be closed with one hand, stay unlocked as they should and, are made to exacting standards. The smaller of the two sizes fit a woman's hand and they are perfectly balanced. While I did find my "favorite" old pair, I rest easy knowing I have an excellent back-up on the gardening bench.

5 5 Okatsune Hand Pruners M. Jones Simply the best on the market. As a Horticulturist I have used pruners daily over the last thirty years and have tried virtually every commercial brand out there. These are the only ones that have held up. They cut as advertised, require little to no maintenance, and hold an edge like none other. The last pair I had lasted 12 years until they were stolen, I'll keep this pair by my side.

2 5 Not professional grade Scott I have used a few pruners in my line of work as a landscape foreman, but these are not holding up well. Have had they for three months and have cracked the edge. At this price they should have lasted at least one season. Had ARS pruners for fifteen yrs, but lost them on a job. Time to see if I can find another pair or try the new style of ARS.

5 5 No Comparison John the arborist and city forester If you can show me a sharper more ergogenic pruner, I'll buy it. After having the best pruners in my hand for over 30 years, nothing else even comes close, period.

5 5 My favorite EVER after decades of gardening Mary Mercedes Beautiful product! BEST I ever bought after a lifetime of serious gardening and landscaping. Holds an edge like no other. Extremely easy to sharpen. Cuts are crisp -- and unlike any of my Felco pruners, the blades don't get sticky. They release perfectly after each cut. I wish I had found these years ago! A few years go, I invested in a fine Japanese hand and it was such a joy to use, I decided to try this Japanese brand. How much do I love them? 1. I bought a back-up pair just in case. 2. I HIDE them after use. I don't want anyone else to touch them. If I happen to loan someone a pruner, I give out one of my Felcos, or one of the other brands I have. These Okatsune pruners are in my 5 TOP TOOLS that I can NOT live without!

5 5 Great pruners Robert R. This pruner is a great addition to my tool kit - equal to the classic Felco pruners I have used for years. Very easy in the hand. Sharp.
Okatsune Hand Pruners, 0.75-inch Cutting Capacity, 8-inch Length
5 5 Great pair of pruners. Groundskeeper Kyle The latch alone makes this pruner worth the money, you can open and close them one handed by sliding the back along your hip, and unlike many other pruners, they stay unlocked until you want them locked. They also come super sharp and stay that way without needing to be sharpened, which makes for nice consistent cuts. I like the way these feel in my hand a lot better than felcos or other bulkier pruners, and they have held up extremely well, especially given the daily abuse I submit them to at work. Well worth the money if you are in the market for a top of the line pruner.

5 5 Best for bamboo W. Dunder Bamboo is both super fibrous and high silica which is very hard to cut with regular clippers. The bamboo nursery uses these exclusively.

5 5 OK103 No name, please. Hands in the dirt, avid gardener, horticultural After 30 years using Felco pruners, I’m switching to Okatsune 8”. It slices through branches smooth and without pressure. The metal tab on bottom for opening and closing is much more effective than that lever on the Felco that forever moves and hinders your work. My only concern is what to do if it needs adjustment. The instructions say not to take it apart yourself. I’ve been so busy using it I haven’t taken time to see about a US customer repair service.
