This system is a little harder to set up than some of the others but I have been using them to support saplings placed way out in a livestock pasture and the fact that these will drip for days on end is a major plus which greatly reduces my overall irrigation work load. I am using several different brands but have decided that these work the best (in my situation) for more difficult to service sites.
I wanted to use it around a tree we planted, but our tree was too little ! It updates of smothered it. I do not remember a suggested tree diameter to use this waterer. Then to top it off, slit in it. The direction said if there is a hole in it, use a Patch! Really?
Purchased 3 to water 3 newly transplanted Jane Magnolias (10'-12' height). Pros: Ooze Tube inner diameter sufficient for base of Magnolias; wooden stake closure feature acceptable; tubes hold water. Cons: not worth 5 cents on the slightest slope; drip assembles (4/tube) do NOT drip (wide open or otherwise) if facing down or if against Ooze Tube wall (which is almost certain to happen unless the drip assemblies are installed above ground level facing outward on the outer wall of the Ooze Tube - not what the Youtube video describes); used ice pick to locate drain holes on bottom of Ooze Tube. Would not recommend to others.
