I have been using soaker hoses for a number of years. Dry, sandy soil necessitates I have a concentrated water application. The water here is so hard it's difficult to keep an emitter type from clogging so the soaker works. The thick walls make them last longer than the cheaper type. They split often after a couple of years, easily repaired with a short piece of 1/2" PEX water supply hose and some tie wire. The joint will leak, isn't that the point? When repairing, you have to tie the two sides together as there are no barbs on the piece of PEX, they will separate from the pressure otherwise. Without these hoses I would be unable to keep the garden alive when it's dry. These offer the advantage of only watering where you want, the weeds can die, but they never do.
Your 1 " soaker hose is the best performer of any soaker hose I have purchased in the past. They last and continue to perform for years.
The savings on my water bill (NYC) is significant. I am able to keep a beautiful garden all season long with the aid of the soaker hoses and the shrub/tree units also
1/2" soaker hoses are useless. 3/4" soaker hose is okay but not great for 100+'. Now 1" soaker hose, well that's different. It is great at 100+' and everywhere in between. You had it. I bought it. It works super.
