This is an award-winning shovel!

Garden Product Review chose the Root Assassin as the winner of their Golden Shovels Award.

The Root Assassin is excellent for clearing out overgrown areas of gardens, forests, or brush. The engineered bone structure adds amazing strength. The curved sharpened tip cuts roots easily. The unique shape of the serrated teeth, located on both sides of the shovel, withstands the toughest jobs. When the teeth wear down, you can easily sharpen them with a wheel or grinder.

The secret of this shovel is that the teeth cut roots when pushing in and pulling out of the ground. Root Assassin uses solid industrial grade steel when manufacturing this shovel and finish it by applying a sleek silver-colored powder coat. They design the steel shaft with ergonomics in mind and top it with a durable solid poly / rubber-coated bright red handle for comfort and ease of locating amid the grounds.

Weighing only 4 pounds, this shovel is light enough to be taken along for a long day yet strong and dense enough to provide the leverage needed to get the job done! It is an excellent addition to your garden tools. This is the king among gardening tools and easily beats all metal shovels. Its shovel / saw combo makes it totally unique.

This is the original root shovel - often imitated, but never duplicated!

Do NOT use as a lever - max weight is 250 pounds.

The Root Assassin really is!

Francis Montone from DE wrote (June 05, 2017):

I bought this after seeing it online, because the design appeared to be just what I was looking for. I have been using it to get a lot of milkweed and unwanted saplings out of a bed. This product does the job extremely well. It also is durable. It made quick work of clearing out some deeply-rooted milkweed.

Root assassin shovel

AJ from MI wrote (April 16, 2017):

This shovel is worth every penny you will spend. My working around our farm are fighting over who gets to use it. I now can get up those stubborn shrubs, tree roots, etc. This shovel just saws through the ground and roots. Cuts your project in half. You have to have one of these if you move and transplant plants, shrubs, etc.

Root Assassin Shovel

Luann from SD wrote (June 13, 2016):

I bought the shovel to dig up and divide large perennials and ornamental grasses. Very happy with the slicing power, especially if you dig/slice on all sides of the clump. Shovel works better in moist soil. I used a different shovel with more prying power to lift the clump out of the ground. The root assassin could have sturdier prying power but still a great tool and I would highly recommend.
