Weight: 2.100000 lbs

Quickly and easily pre-tension static lines!

Use the CMI Rope Jack to pre-tension static lines, for light lifting, or cabling. CMI engineered this tool to be small and light. This small profile makes it easy to transport — even for a climber!

CMI designed the Rope Jack for one-handed operation by one person. It provides a mechanical advantage ratio of 5:1. This means that, with the Rope Jack, one person generates 300 to 800 pounds of force!

Use the Rope Jack to remove slack and stretch for lowering. Use it to lift the tips on light limbs without the need for larger equipment.

CMI approves the Rope Jack for use with static ropes from 3/8 to 5/8-inch in diameter. Use with virtually any length of rope. Its design allows you to attach it mid-line.

Testing revealed that CMI ascenders strip the sheath of a brand new 1/2-inch rope at 1,500 pounds. The handle length limits this excessive loading. This helps avoid damage to your rope or line.

Releasing the rope jack may take practice. To remove a load from the Rope Jack, pull the handle and allow the trailing cam to loosen. Pull the handle again and allow the forward cam to loosen. You should relieve the tension off each cam a little bit at a time.

CMI provides the following safety guidelines when using the Rope Jack:
  • Never use a cheater bar increase leverage — this may damage the unit, the rope, or severely injure personnel
  • Only one person should operate the unit using one hand only
  • Never use the Rope Jack by itself for hauling human cargo — you can use the rope jack for life-support when used in conjunction with another progress capture device
  • Remove the unit before applying any shock load
  • Never use the Rope Jack for heavy or dynamic loads — even non-toothed devices shred a rope with high loading.
