Why should I grow my own vegetables?

There are tons of reasons. A huge one is this: If you grow your own veggies, it helps you eat more of them. When fresh veggies are right in your backyard, you’re more likely to incorporate them into the night’s dinner. Beyond that, growing your own vegetables allows you to be in complete control over what fertilizers and pesticides they come in contact with, so you can always be 100% sure of what you’re eating.

How much sun does a vegetable garden need?

The fastest-growing vegetables (tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, etc.) need around 6-8 hours of direct sunlight a day. Carrots, radishes, beets and other root vegetables can thrive in partial shade, but still require 3 to 4 hours of direct light to complete their photosynthesis needs.
