Pricey but worth it! wrote

These are far better than the white, corrugated tubes we had on our trees. They look better (they blend into the landscape and we can barely see them from inside the house), are easier to install without scraping bark off the tree, allow air & moisture through, are able to be trimmed to wrap around branches on multi-trunk trees and provide adequate protection from deer. We used 3 zip ties to secure each cover and plan to leave them on year-round.

I always use these on young trees to protect from buck rub. They can be cut shorter to fit the trunk. Ideally, there will be a branch just above the guard to keep the buck from pulling the guard over the tree.

Tree trunk protection of young trees. wrote

Need larger diameter product for young trees. At 6" diameter our city park trees still need protection from weed eater attack. Open grid of product does not encourage Fire Ant colony. We had been using flexible drain pipe but Fire Ants love to build a colony up against trunk during rainy seasons. I cut these 4' lengths into 6" or 8" lengths. Then zip tie around tree base. Many of our trees are 6-7" diameter and I have to double up to keep loose. Probably a 10" diameter tube is needed. When tree outgrows 10".....it is likely safe from weed eater damage.

great product. wrote

I bought the 48" 6 inch in diameter. I had to use two to fit around my tree, which worked well. Very nice product. Easy to install and looks nice on the tree.

I wish I found these years ago. Live were there is 10 - 15 deer in my yard on many occasions. Last fall there were bucks with large antlers that just pushed through the wire cages (2" x 4") that had been effective for years. These tree guards have small enough holes the antlers cant get through. neighbors are now asking were I get these. Wish I found sooner, the deer rubbed entire bark off 4 beautiful aspens.
