Purchased to assist in removing shrubs and bushes. Does a good job in cutting through some roots. It’s my opinion it takes any shovel you got to help out and not one tool is the answer. My best friend is a long handle ax and muscle.

This is a great shovel. It holds and then cuts through roots perfectly.

Scratching teeth Tom from OR wrote August 01, 2018

I bought this shovel to help dig out bamboo. The teeth of the shovel scrape hard, compact soil faster than typical spade shovel. The root cutting isn't so strong but it's there. I've dug out some fern with this tool also. Again, the teeth scratch more soil out faster than normal spade. I estimate saving 30% of time with this tool so if you dig often it's worth the investment.

I like that 1 side has teeth. It makes it easier to dig in the hard ground and to get rid of roots. This shovel is well made and sturdy.

Cuts through TN hard clay. Gave one to my boyfriend so I needed one for me for him to use at my house :)
